I came across this fantastic kitchen idea today, the AeroGarden indoor herb garden. This is especially great if you live in an apartment like I do but it’s also a convenient way to have fresh herbs on hand at all times. Cooking with herbs adds great flavour to your meals and I would always choose fresh herbs over dried ones.
The AeroGarden is a plant holder with a difference. It uses aeroponics, which is the process of growing plants in air, without the use of soil. A new concept for me and something I find fascinating. Here is a little more information on aeroponics:
The basic principle of aeroponic growing is to grow plants in a closed or semi-closed environment by spraying the plant’s roots with a nutrient rich solution. These conditions advance plant development, health, growth, flowering and fruiting for any given plant species and cultivars. As aeroponics is conducted in air combined with micro-droplets of water, almost any plant can grow to maturity in air with a plentiful supply of carbon dioxide, water and nutrients.
The AeroGarden is an easy way to grow herbs indoors, using little space:
Try the AeroGarden for yourself, it’s available online or from most homeware stores.
I have one of this, I’ve been through 6 pumps and 2 low water indicators. The Aerogrow people are nice enough to ship you the parts for free when the thing breaks, but it has been a hassle and a half. You should probably wait another year or so before you get one, let them improve the technology a bit. Unless you like constantly taking it apart.
Are you sure it’s the same one - the AeroGarden 3?
I think this is the latest model which hopefully doesn’t have any of the problems you had.
Did you at least get your herbs to grow?
